  • This is our favorite Eddie Murphy movie! (You thought it was "Beverly Hills Cop" or "Coming to America" didn't you? Nope!) This is an awesome comedy! It's like "The Sting" for Capital Hill.
  • Oh wait...we forgot about "Trading Places".  Hmmmm...that's a good one too!? But naaa, this is our favorite!

Picture
“Trading Places” (1983 Paramount) Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Denholm Elliott, Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy.  Available on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple iTunes Store.
  • This movie is a CLASSIC! We refer to it as a "Surf Stopper" as in, you stop "channel surfing" when you come across it on TV. For many Eddie Murphy fans, this is their favorite, and we LOVE "Trading Places", but we're sticking with "The Distinguished Gentleman".

  • This is Eddie Murphy's big screen debut, and while 48 Hrs. is more of an action-crime/drama, it does have a nice touch of early Eddie Murphy comedy. When viewing 48 Hrs. today, the film may seem very dated. Still, a significant percentage of Eddie Murphy fans will say that this is their favorite. (It's so tough to pick just one...Eddie Murphy has so many great films!)

  • This one is a hidden gem! You may have missed it back in the late 90's.  If so, watch it.  Great cast, great comedy, and be sure to watch the "out-takes" during the end credits, hilarious!

  • You thought we were going to go with "Shrek", or "Boomerang" or "Bowfinger", or "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" (all good choices by the way) didn't you? Nope! "A Thousand Words" is another hidden gem.  This shows the full range of Eddie Murphy as an actor: comedy, seriousness, sensitivity, it's all here, and he nails it. Nice film.
