MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APRIL 2022
Welcome to April! Sorry, we’re late getting recommendations up. There was some "madness" going on in March, as you sports fans may recall. Excuses aside, we are giving you four random movie selections this month. No theme intended. Enjoy! For accurate information on how to help stop the spread of Coronavirus, go HERE.

“Big Fish” (2003 Columbia Pictures) Billy Crudup, Albert Finney, Jessica Lange, Helena Bonham Carter, Hailey Anne Nelson, Ewan McGregor, Steve Buscemi,  Danny DeVito, Alison Lohman, Marion Cotillard, and Robert Guillaume. Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV.  Also currently available on Netfilx.
  • Directed by Tim Burton, nominated for one Oscar and five Golden Globes, “Big Fish” is, in our opinion, Tim Burton’s finest and most sophisticated work.  A magical film capturing a father explaining his mysterious life to his skeptical son through fantastic metaphorical stories. The underlying story is the tale of how an estranged son comes to peace and understanding with his father at the end of his life’s journey. We can’t watch this film without getting tears in our eyes at the end.  If you’ve not seen “Big Fish” treat yourself to it immediately, you’ll be glad you did.

"The Way" (2010 Filmax Entertainment) Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez, York van Wageningen, Deborah Kara Unger, James Nesbitt, Renée Estevez, Romy Baskerville, David Alexanian. Available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. Also currently available on Netflix.
  • Directed by Emilio Estevez and starring his father, Martin Sheen, “The Way” is a true hidden gem from 2010. Martin Sheen plays “Tom,” a father grieving the untimely death of his son Daniel (Emilio Esteves), who died of exposure while hiking the “Camino De Santiago.” Sheen’s character, facing a crossroads in his own life, attempts to complete the journey on his own, carrying his son’s ashes with him. Tom teams up with three other pilgrims making the trek from France to Spain. Each character has their unique emotional baggage to share.

"Juno" (2007 Fox Searchlight Pictures) Elliot Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney, J.K Simmons, Olivia Thirlby. Available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. Also currently available on Hulu.
  • "Juno" is what we consider a new modern classic. A touching story of a high school girl dealing with an unexpected pregnancy, looking to give her baby up for adoption to the right couple. A great comedy-drama with a nearly all-star cast, “Juno” should not be missed. Add it to your list immediately.

"Ruby Sparks" (2012 Fox Searchlight Pictures) Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Chris Messina, Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas, Aasif Mandvi, Elliott Gould, Deborah Ann Woll, Steve Coogan, Toni Trucks. Available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
  • "Ruby Sparks" We feel that Paul Dano (12 Years a Slave, There will Be Blood, The Batman) is a tremendously underrated actor. We honestly believe that Dano will be up for an Oscar one day in the not too distant future. Ruby Sparks is a fun, touching, funny romantic comedy-drama. You’ll be surprised by this film. Check it out today!
