FUN IDEA FOR FEBRUARY 2022 by  WhoFlicksPryme Editors
COOK SOME COMFORT FOOD!
Diet be damned! It's cold out there!

Welcome to February! If you're in the northern hemisphere,  there's a good chance it might be cold where you are at this time of year. Short, cold days, desperate longing for Spring? Yeah, we feel your pain too. What you need is some Comfort Food! We can't think of a better way to fight off the cold dark days of winter! So get out your chef's hat and head to the kitchen. Here is one of our favorite winter staples!

Slow Cooker Ribs! You might think that making Ribs requires a big outdoor smokehouse. Nonsense! We've got a solution for people who don't have that kind of space. Slow Cooker Ribs! All you need is a big frying pan and a slow cooker. This recipe can't be any more simple; here it is. Ribs (Pick up a bunch of your favorite type from the market or butcher shop), salt, pepper (or your choice of seasoning), a little bit of oil, and two bottles of your favorite BBQ Sauce (we like Stubs.) Enjoy!
Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A slow cooker
  • A large frying pan
  • 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (or canola)
  • 1 or 2 racks of spare ribs (depending on how many mouths to feed)
  • 2 bottles of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • A large serving dish

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Place 2 tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan on medium-high heat.
  • Lightly season the ribs with salt and pepper.
  • Once your frying pan is nice and hot, sear the ribs in the frying pan just until you start to see some browning (don’t overdo it, you’re just searing the outside of the ribs, NOT COOKING them! We’re talking 30 to 45 seconds each side here.)
  • Place the seared ribs in the slow cooker and pour in both bottles of your BBQ Sauce to cover the ribs.
  • Place the lid on your slow cooker and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low, or 4 on high.
  • Use long-handled cooking tongs to gently remove the ribs from the slow cooker to a serving dish.
