Brendan Fraser, in "The Mummy" 1999 Universal Pictures
BRENDAN FRASER
While he doesn’t quite hold the title of “America’s Actor” (that would be Tom Hanks), Brendan Fraser could easily be that guy! Known mostly for a vast stretch of work from the early 1990s to the late 2000s, Fraser is a versatile actor you’ll love. He covers it all from comedy to drama to action-adventure to rom-coms.  Fraser is a true master of his craft.  In no particular order, here are a few of our favorite Brendan Fraser films.
Picture
"Airheads" (1994 Twentieth Century Fox) Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Joe Mantegna, Michael McKean, Judd Nelson, Ernie Hudson, Amy Locane, Nena Siemaszko.  Available on Amazon, also currently available on Starz.
  • “Airheads” is an underrated comedy featuring a nearly all-star cast.  The film also featured an early role for Adam Sandler before his break-out stretch of hits which started with “Billy Maddison” in 1995.

"Inkheart" (2008 New Line Cinema) Brendan Fraser, Eliza Bennett, Sienna Guillory, Helen Mirren, Andy Serkis, Paul Bettany, Richard Strange. Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple iTunes Store. Also currently available on Netflix.
  • Based on Cornelia Funke’s 2003 novel of the same name, Inkheart was a sleeper “family friendly” hit back in 2008.  In a time when it is hard to find films that kids and adults will both enjoy, “Inkheart” fits the bill! Your kids will love this film, especially if they love books!

"Crash" (2004 Lions Gate Films) Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, William Fichtner, Jennifer Esposito and more. Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple iTunes Store.
  • Winner of 3 Oscars in 2006 including Best Motion Picture of the Year, “Crash” is a monumental work co-written and directed by Paul Haggis (Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima).  A fascinating story of the interconnection of characters in Los Angeles and the far-reaching consequences of events and attitudes.

"Blast from the Past" (1999 New Line Cinema) Brendan Fraser, Alicia Silverstone, Christopher Walken, Sissy Spacek, Joey Slotnick, and Dave Foley.  Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple iTunes Store.
  • One of our all-time favorite roles for Brendan Fraser, we love this film! Blast from the Past is a surf-stopper whenever found on cable (which is rare).  A brilliant rom-com with an excellent cast.  Great supporting performances from Dave Foley, Christopher Walken, and Sissy Spacek. Trust us. You’ll laugh out loud!

"Bedazzled" (2000 Twentieth Century Fox) Brendan Fraser, Elizabeth Hurley, Frances O’Connor, Orlando Jones, Miriam Shor, Paul Adelstein.  Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple iTunes  Store.
  • We don’t typically like to use the word “cute” to describe the films we enjoy, but it does fit for “Bedazzled” Think of it as “Groundhog Day” meets “Aladdin” meets “The Devil and Daniel Webster.”  Featuring a brilliant comedic role for Elizabeth Hurley as “The Devil” and chock full of hilarious “what-if” scenarios, you’ll be surprised by this rom-com.  Check it out!

"The Mummy" (1999 Universal Pictures) Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, Kevin J. O’Connor, Erick Avari.  Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple iTunes Store, also currently available on Netflix.
  • An excellent action-adventure film with a subtle tinge of comedy thrown in.  “The Mummy” is the first of a series which inspired a sequel and a spin-off (“The Mummy Returns” and "The Scorpion King”). Featuring a great cast and fast-paced action sequences, “The Mummy” is a film you can enjoy with the entire family.
