FUN IDEA FOR DECEMBER 2019 by  huflixPrime Editors
TAKE A DAY TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY

Some of you, perhaps all three of our fans — may recognize this "Fun Idea" as last year's "Bonus Fun Idea." You would be correct if you said: "Hey, that's cheating!" However, we feel that the holidays are a "traditional" sort of thing, and what could be more traditional than taking a holiday trip to the big city? New York City is called by many names: "The Big Apple," "The Greatest City In the World," and "Gotham," among others. Call it what you will, but one thing is for sure, New York City is probably one of the most magical places to be during the "Christmahanakwanza" season.

If you can get there during mid-November and December, you’ll find New York City is decked out in it’s finest and a site worth seeing!
Another great way to experience the magic of New York City during the holidays is to treat yourself to a self-guided walking tour.  Here’s our suggestion for a nice day trip:  If you’re arriving in NYC by train at Grand Central Station, walk up 5th Avenue to see all of the amazing holiday decorations, and take in the holiday window at Saks Fifth Ave.  Just across the street you will find the annual Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center.  Visit the tree and check out some of the cool shops in the Center:  The Lego Store, and Teuscher Chocolate which features some of the worlds finest chocolate, (not inexpensive though!)

Walk a bit further up 5th Avenue to see more famed window displays at Bendels (Corner of 5th Avenue and 56th Street) and Bergdorfs (Corner of 5th Avenue and 57th Street) then end up in front of The Plaza Hotel if you’d like to take a peek at one of the world’s finest hotels. If you're a fan of Eloise, be sure to pop in to see her painting in the lobby!

For Lunch, try La Bonne Soupe, 48 West 55th Street (Between 5th and 6th Avenues).  If your party is more than three people, you may call in advance for a reservation.

After lunch, head to Bryant Park for the “Winter Village”.  It’s like a European holiday market.  If you’re willing to wait a bit, there’s ice skating.  If you’re sitting out the skating, enjoy some late afternoon snacks at some of the various food and desert stands, check out The Lodge, or The Overlook for getting a festive drink and relaxing.

Take an easy walk back to Grand Central Station where you can enjoy the Grand Central Holiday Fair before boarding your train home.
